New Investment - June 10

Garden centre aggregates and sundries wholesaler Deco-Pak is spending £2.5m on a new bagging/production plant in addition to their existing facilities to cater for their growing customer base.

Managing director Mike Hall said: "We have always been keen on investing into new leading edge technology and are therefore very excited with this investment. Deco-Pak's business is growing at such a rate that a new site is imperative to be able to continue our excellent service for our customers who demand a high quality product within a short delivery period.

"As our product portfolio is forever growing the introduction of our new plant will allow for most products to be stored undercover to ensure our customer the highest quality of presentation"

He added: "Since Craig Keyworth joined us as sales director from Scott's Miracle-Gro just after Glee last year he has strengthened the sales force with the introduction of Phil Owen and Neil Jones to our already experienced sales force meaning we are able to provide a first class representation within the marketplace nationally for our customers. Under Craig's leadership our sales force is able to respond to all our customer requests in a very short space of time and our back up sales office can assist with any enquiry."

This year saw the introduction of Deco-pak's winter fuel range. Marketing director Craig Hall added: "This range was introduced due to numerous conversations with our customers leading up to the Glee trade show. We listened to their requests and went away and produced a range of coal, logs and kindling. The response has been phenomenal and we are looking to extend this range further. We are presently sourcing our new products for 2011 and are very confident that our customers will be impressed with what they will see at Four Oaks and Glee"

In 2010 Deco-Pak also benefitted from TV advertising on their Everbloom compost range and other products which has seen increased sales and hope to continue with this investment in 2011.

This investment will assist in Deco-Pak reaching their expected target of £8m turnover within the next 2 years.

GLEE 2009 Review

GLEE Heats up

Deco-Pak successfully launched its new range of solid fuels to accompany its winter range at this year's Glee exhibition. The range comprises of Coal, Smokeless Briquettes, Seasoned logs and kindling.

HeatWave coalHeat Wave Coal generates a lot of heat and leaves behind very little ash. It combines all the traditional qualities of a real fire as well as being slow burning and easy to control.

Heat Wave Smokeless Briquettes are a cost-effective, clean-burning, smokeless fuel that will pack together tightly in your fire. The result? Maximum heat output and minimum waste for great value.

The aesthetically pleasing bag design of the solid fuel range complements Deco-Pak's existing winter range of rock salt and salt spreaders. With an eye catching and clear point of sale it provides retailers with an opportunity to increase turnover during the traditionally quieter winter months.

Commenting on the launch of Heat Wave, marketing director, Craig Hall said, "This is very exciting for retailers and consumers. Using our established reputation for well-presented garden and winter products like aggregates, compost and rock salt; we are now opening up the solid fuel category to the Deco-Pak approach. We received exceptional feedback from customers that saw the range at Glee and we believe that it will prove to be a winner with consumers alike."
