House Price Rises Leading to Increase in DIY and Aggregates Sales

Deco-Pak, the UK’s leading supplier of decorative aggregates, landscaping and DIY materials, have announced an increase in sales of 47% year on year.

The company claims that rising demand for their products are partly due to a sustained increase in house prices and a lack of new housing, prompting many homeowners to spend more on their properties.
Deco-Pak’s Managing Director, Mike Hall said that the company’s recent increase in sales is linked to several attributes, one of which being house prices rising and a shortage of housing for those that are selling and looking to buy.

“People tend to spend more on improving their homes and gardens in these situations.  If you are waiting for houses to come onto the market you are left with nothing other to do than continue to work on your property, adding extensions or improving paving, paths or driveways.”

Deco-Pak are based in the North of England, where house prices have risen 5.8%.

“There is also a feeling of wealth that comes from knowing your property is worth more.  So even if homeowners aren’t looking to sell, they are more likely to consider investing in larger scale improvements.  Weather, as always, is a factor, and since the awful floods earlier this year, we should also see sales coming from those wishing to spend more time outside, making repairs and trying to make the most of drier and sunnier weather.”

Other factors to take into account are Deco-Pak’s new product ranges, enhanced merchandising solutions and improvements to the company as a whole; not to mention the improved spring weather and the company’s recent acquisition of Livingstone’s sales team.

“A lot of companies are making cuts, whereas we feel we are growing in size, with improvements in our merchandising and a larger sales team able to serve our customers even better than before.  We are able to launch exciting, high quality products to complement our core range; such as our unique birdhouses and Tidal Water features range.  Our latest successful new product launch, Easybuild; is a selection of products such as cement and sharp sand that appeals directly to consumers that are less experienced at home improvements.  It’s very popular with retailers looking to stock inexpensive, easy to merchandise basic materials all in one stand with attractive, eye-catching point of sale.”

National Nestbox Week

National Nestbox Week – Deco-Pak offering our feathered friends stylish living like no other

Starting on Valentine’s Day 2014 will be the 10th National Nestbox Week – a special event set up by the British Trust of Ornithology to encourage the nation to provide homes for our feathered friends. This year, retailers can offer something completely unique to inspire consumers across the UK, thanks to the new Garden Bazaar range of bird houses from Deco-Pak.

Homes and accessories for our feathered friends mark an exciting new chapter for Deco-Pak, who has traditionally specialised in garden aggregates and decorative accents. Inspired by classic British landmarks and popular architectural design from around the world, the Deco-Pak collection of birdhouses offers a unique and style-driven alternative to existing ranges on the market.
New for 2014 designs include a classic blue police phone box feeder, reminiscent of Doctor Who’s tardis, as well as a row of summery beach huts, providing a snuggly home for up to three birds. The classic post box has been given a revamp, and is now a peanut feeder; whilst birds wanting a nautical themed home will be pleased to know that Deco-Pak’s Garden Bazaar 2014 range also includes a lighthouse birdhouse.
The final new addition will be a special birdfeeder in association with the garden industry’s charity, Greenfingers. The feeder features a special design created by four year old Anusha from the Shelley First School, Huddersfield – the winner of a special competition Deco-Pak recently ran with the school. £2.50 from each sale of the feeder will go directly to Greenfingers, helping them to create even more magical gardens at children’s hospices throughout the UK.
Craig Hall, marketing director at Deco-Pak said: “Since launching the Garden Bazaar range of bird houses at Glee 2013 we have been inundated with requests and positive feedback from retailers across the UK. No other range on the market combines such a high level of design, with the necessary functionality required to safely house our nation’s birds. Plus, with RRPs starting from just £12.99 we’ve no doubt that our latest collection will offer retailers – from garden centres to department stores and gift shops – a great profit opportunity as they maximise both the gift and impulse-buy potential that these products offer.”
